The Apron Dress.

So, I went to my favorite store (Hobby Lobby) and saw these pretties. I especially liked the floral one and had to find something that would work with it. I think I did pretty good with what I chose.
Note: (Always wash and dry your fabric before you start cutting).

I started cutting my pattern out and here is what I have. The bodice, skirt, apron, ties, and the sleeves.

Sew bodice front to bodice back at the side seams (the 2 red pieces). Do the same for the sleeves. Then pin the sleeves to the bodice front and bodice back. Sew the sleeves (the blue pieces) to the bodice front and back.

This is what it should look like. Make sure your seams (LINE UP) before you sew the two together.

Next step is to gather your skirt at the waist line. Pin skirt to the bodice at the bottom edge. Make sure they are right side to right side. Your seams should always line up. Now pull the BOBBIN thread to gather your skirt so that it fit the bodice pieces.  Now do a baste stitch (thread tension on the lowest #1 strenght and your stitch lenght at to widest #5). Check to make sure it all looks good. Then you can stitch them together. (make sure you put your tensions back to what they were before you basted)!!!! I've often made that mistake  and had to sew again. UUGHHHH!

Now for the neckline.  Iron about 1inch and then 1/4th to make the hem for the elastic.

Sew very close to the edge all the way around, except for an inch. That's where you will insert the elastic.

This is what the neckline should look like before you insert the elastic. Also what the skirt should look like when you sew the bodice to it.

Sew the rick rack to the lower edge of the apron, then add the ties and stitch them in place.

You have the option at this point to sew the apron to the dress, which I did.

Here is the neckline after I inserted the elastic.

All that is left is to hem up the bottom of the dress. Iron about 1 1/2 inches for the hem and then 1/4. Sew the hem closed and you are done.

This is what the back looks like. Cute!
